It has come the time to close one chapter in our lives and concentrate on other things from now on. We have decided to put KRNKY to rest and close the web store with a final sale of the shirts. The handmade products have already been removed, but we will handle all orders currently waiting for production and shipping. So don’t be afraid of losing your money if you happen to have an order in.
We came out with KRNKY in early 2010 after months of developing many prototypes and testing them ourselves and with help from our close friends here in Helsinki. Fixed Gear Freestyle was booming and the Pedal Straps were a super hit on the market and people really trusted in us and our products. Our Finnish origins convinced also cyclist abroad on our ability to build a perfect Winter Cycling Cap and our design collected numerous mentions on it’s minimalistic style functional essence across the portfolio. The classic Bars-T print became our landmark by connecting the different styles of cycling to image of handlebars forming an image of rib cage even if the middle one was actually and tube from wardrobe with grips mounted on it. These products made us so proud and we were counting all the different countries where we had been sending them. It was awesome to see our products in use on streets, stickers on bikes and hear feedback from you. Some of you managed to break our products and some caps in the beginning had weak lid material and we always fixed the products. We wanted them to serve you the whole lifetime or years at least. The heavy users were so proud to order a new Belt Bag to replace the totally worn out one.
Lately producing all the products – excluding the shirts – has become an weight too heavy to carry for us. In the beginning many people asked about our intentions to outsource the production but we always wanted to keep it home grown and self-handmade. This decision kept our business small enough to be able to run along the day jobs and without causing extra stress with order base. Actually we couldn’t do as much marketing as we would have wanted because we were afraid of getting too much orders in. For selected bike shops around Europe we promised to supply small batches for retailing but mainly we wanted to keep our products in our own web store. It was the concept we created and we didn’t want to turn it against us. It was a blast while it lasted and this time will always be a huge part in our history that we can remember with pride and joy.
Finally we would like to thank all our friends for your support, event organisers for your co-operation, retailers for your will to represent us and mainly each and everyone of you our customers and KRNKY users – you made all this possible and us willing to spend late hours manufacturing the best possible good for you. Thank you. This was awesome.

We supported the guys at Bikeminimalism. to make this great piece of art. Our home town Helsinki looks so nice as always and the summer night doesn’t look that bad either. Or what do you think?
Here’s the poem by Samu Ainesmaa:
I traverse the vast expanses of where the noise stops.
Where the air is furiously calm in a whirl,
A raging sea of windows blur.
Let me disappear here, in the midst of the light,
Wrapped in the night like a cowl,
Fiery glad that the song of my heart
Takes up wings in my flight,
In the hours when the haunters howl.
When the days grow shorter, when the nights grow cold,
When we’re learning to put on winter clothes,
When my freckles begin to fade, and my hands tremble,
Let me go on.
Our web store has an irritating problem with the missing product images. We try to get everything showing correctly as soon as possible but you can still shop as safely and smoothly as earlier. And while the images are gone you are most welcome to see them on our Facebook page.
UPDATE: The product images are now back and the server problem is sorted out.
We hera at KRNKY have turned off the sewing machines and turned ourselves into the holiday mode for a week or two. We would like to wish you all a very peaceful Christmas and an inspiring New Year.
We just got a new batch of KRNKY stickers and they look great. There are square and horizontal layouts in black and white on transparent background. They will fit on any frame in any color and they will look like they were meant to be there. We’ll add a selection of these to every order shipped starting from today.
